This June, I’m supporting my friends Joanne Harpel, Senior Director for Public Affairs and Postvention for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), and Dempsey Rice, maker of the film Daughter of Suicide, as they participate in The Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk sponsored by the AFSP. The Out of the Darkness Overnight is a walk like no other. An 18-mile journey through the night, from dusk until dawn, this courageous community of men and women like Joanne and Dempsey will break the silence and bring issues of depression and suicide into the light. Their goal: “We will walk together to turn heartbreak into hope for tomorrow.”
