Mother’s Day Activism: Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence
Hi, everyone! We believe in personal and community action to raise awareness on many different issues affecting families–not just mental illness or suicide. This is why we are supporting Brooklyn for Barack and Sue Rock Originals, a domestic-violence nonprofit, in continuing their tradition of making quilts for women and families who are living in shelters after escaping from situations of domestic violence.
This Saturday, April 30th, you can help them finish a new batch of quilts in time for donation on Mother’s Day! They need experienced hand- and machine-sewers, people to iron fabric, and experienced knitters and crocheters. This is a great opportunity to use our hands to help women and families. The hours are from noon to 4 in Brooklyn. Check out their event details page for more information and to RSVP.
